Gone but not forgoteen
Pam was one of the original members of Friends of Riverside Park. Her position within the group was as Secretary, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was always in the park pottering away at the FoRP garden, in the wildlife garden or just walking her dog ‘Casper’ out and talking to people while there. Pam loved interacting with the users of the park, finding out what they liked about Riverside Park. She was always ready to volunteer for anything we were doing. After one event in the park, 'Bark in the Park', she said people were beginning to call her the ‘Poo Bag Lady’ due to her handing out poo bags to walkers, or putting them on parked car windscreens.luckily this name did not stick as she eventually became known as the 'Squirrel lady'.
Pam, along with her friend Michael, adopted a small piece of waste ground in the park, which they turned into the wildlife garden. She also loved looking after the wildlife in the park and asked Michael to build bird boxes to feed the birds, only to find rascal squirrels were stealing the food, so she decided boxes had to be built to feed the squirrels. This was when Pam became affectionally known as the ‘Squirrel Lady’.
Pam will be greatly missed by everyone who came in contact with her, not only our group, who are going to find a large hole in it for a long time, but by the park users and even by the wildlife who have lost their very special squirrel lady.
